Landscape- Ambitious, In-Depth Assignment; Wearable Art
For my in-depth assignment I chose to create a wearable art piece. I wanted to create an extension of my body that served a function like if it was part of me. I created a an arm with a hand out of wire. I had no idea how I would sculpt a hand out of wire with no experience in anything like it but I went for it and took the challenge.I was surprised to watch how each finger came together and actually looked like a hand. I attached pieces of straws to each joint of the fingers and tied strings through them . Each finger had a different colored string and was color coded. The purpose of the strings and straw pieces was that when I moved a finger on my hand, that same finger would move on the synthetic hand and would work as an extension to my actual hand. In the future I could improve this project by giving the hand more mobility so that it is able to pick things up.
Materials:
wire
straws
string
pliers
tape
hot glue
scissors
circular plates and bowls
