Topic One: The Though Questions- Second Assignment

Research: When thinking of an idea for my first project I wanted to make something that had an important meaning to me. The first word that came to mind was "wisdom". As a young adult I always try to collect bits of wisdom by having long conversations with adults that have lived for many years. I ask them for advice because they have lived through a lot. Every day I try to better myself as a person and form my mentality into one with consciousness, optimism, and wisdom.

In my painting the owl on the woman's head represents wisdom. The owls eyes are large and intense as opposed to the woman's closed eyes. The woman is walking through life with closed human eyes and is looking with her wisdom eyes. She is confident in the owl as she looks up. She is confident in making decisions as the owl ( wisdom) directing her through life. This is very personal to me because I try to do this before I make decisions especially now that I have to make decisions that require more responsibility.

Process: First I sketched out my idea on a small sketchbook I had in my purse. I then drew out my idea on a 11 in x 15 in watercolor paper. After that I started painting the owl then the sky followed by the woman. I painted the woman's hair pink to contrast with the other colors in the painting. Lastly I outlined the owl and woman in black and brown tones.
